PhD and Postdoc position available
There is one PhD (4 years) and one postdoc (2 years) position available. The positions will be at CWI Amsterdam, supervised by Nikhil Bansal. These positions are part of the NWO (Dutch Science Foundation) project OPTIMAL (Optimization for and with Machine Learning).
These positions are broadly on the design and analysis of algorithms for basic machine learning tasks. The emphasis will be on developing rigorous methods based on techniques from optimization, high-dimensional probability and beyond worst analysis of algorithms to understand the behavior of machine learning algorithms on real world data.
Requirements. For the PhD position, an MSc degree in Computer Science, (Applied) Mathematics, or a related discipline is required. For the postdoc position, a PhD degree in such a discipline, a strong expertise in theoretical computer science or machine learning is required.
The salaries and conditions of employment are governed by the Collective Labor Agreement for Dutch Universities. The researcher will be embedded in the research group Networks and Optimization at CWI. He/she will benefit from a rich range of scientific activities, within CWI and the OPTIMAL consortium.
