I received the Ph.D. degree in Electrical Engineering from Koc University, Istanbul in 2006. During my Ph.D. work, I developed multiple objective optimization models for content adaptive online streaming of low bitrate (below entertainment-quality) videos over best effort networks. In 2006, I joined TU/e Computer Science as a postdoctoral researcher. I am currently an associate professor at the Interconnected Resource-aware Intelligent Systems (IRIS) research group. My research is on the architectures and life-cycle management of resource-constrained for smart spaces and intelligent Internet of Things (IoT), including the relevant data analytics aspects.
Since 2013, I am leading the Bright Environments research program of TU/e Intelligent Lighting Institute. See my article titled "Lighting Control and Interaction for the Future" in the ILI Magazine (May 2014 release).
