XES Certification for ProcessGold 14 approved

On January 18, 2019, the XES WG has approved the requested XES Certification (Levels A, B, C, and D and flag X for import, none for export) for ProcessGold 14. This makes ProcessGold the fifth tool that has received a XES Certification from the XES WG, and the first industry tool that includes certified support for event classifiers.
XES Certification for Pm4py 0.1 approved

On December 20, 2018, the XES WG has approved the requested XES Certification (Levels A, B, C, and D and flag X for both import and export) for Pm4py. This makes Pm4py the fourth tool that has received a XES Certification from the XES WG.
XES artifact lifecycle extension approved
On December 5, 2018, the XES WG has approved the XES artifact lifecycle extension. THis extension is now considered to be a standard XES extension.
Call for Nominations: Best Process Mining Dissertation Award

As part of the establishment of the International Conference on Process Mining (ICPM), we are calling for applications for the 2018 edition of the Best Process Mining Dissertation Award.
Eligible candidates are those who officially obtained a PhD degree in 2018 in the field of process mining. The term process mining is interpreted broadly: The use of data produced during the execution of business, software, or system processes, in order to extract knowledge or insights to manage these processes.
The winner will receive the award at the ICPM’2019 Conference in Aachen, Germany on 24-26 June 2019. The award is connected with a monetary prize (exact amount to be announced later) and a free registration to the ICPM conference. The winner is also offered the option to publish the dissertation thesis in Springer’s LNBIP series.
Candidates are nominated by their primary supervisor via a nomination letter (but the application is submitted by the candidate). A supervisor is only allowed to nominate one candidate. We are establishing a new conference series specifically focussed on the fascinating area of process mining. The first edition of the International Conference on Process Mining (ICPM 2019) will take place in Aachen on 24-26 June 2019.
There will be a number of satellite events incl. a best process mining dissertation award, the BPI Challenge, the Process Discovery Contest and a brand-new contest dedicated to Conformance Checking. Moreover, we are organising an industry day right in the middle of the conference, to bring in process mining users, consultants and vendors around the same table together with academics.

This book introduces readers to the field of conformance checking as a whole and outlines the fundamental relation between modelled and recorded behaviour. Conformance checking interrelates the modelled and recorded behaviour of a given process and provides techniques and methods for comparing and analysing observed instances of a process in the presence of a model, independent of the model’s origin. Its goal is to provide an overview of the essential techniques and methods in this field at an intuitive level, together with precise formalisations of its underlying principles.
The book is divided into three parts, that are meant to cover different perspectives of the field of conformance checking. Part I presents a comprehensive yet accessible overview of the essential concepts used to interrelate modelled and recorded behaviour. It also serves as a reference for assessing how conformance checking efforts could be applied in specific domains. Next, Part II provides readers with detailed insights into algorithms for conformance checking, including the most commonly used formal notions and their instantiation for specific analysis questions. Lastly, Part III highlights applications that help to make sense of conformance checking results, thereby providing a necessary next step to increase the value of a given process model. They help to interpret the outcomes of conformance checking and incorporate them by means of enhancement and repair techniques.
Providing the core building blocks of conformance checking and describing its main applications, this book mainly addresses students specializing in business process management, researchers entering process mining and conformance checking for the first time, and advanced professionals whose work involves process evaluation, modelling and optimization.

On November 21, 2018, the XES WG has approved the requested XES Certification (Levels A1, B1, C1, and D1 for import, none for export) for QPR ProcessAnalyzer 2018.6. This makes QPR ProcessAnalyzer 2018.6 the third tool that has received a XES Certification from the XES WG.
